Free Shutterfly holiday cards? Don't mind if I do!

So Shutterfly is doing a holiday card promotion where bloggers can get 50 free holiday cards, and I signed up. I like free stuff, and I wanted to do a photo card this year anyway, so it worked out well.

I never used to do the whole holiday card thing. Before I was married, I mean -- I was living in a different place every year (as were most of my friends, so getting addresses was a pain), I was broke and stamps are expensive, and I was lazy. Last year was the first time I've actually sent out Christmas cards, and you know what? I liked it. I got lots of Christmas cards in return. Which sat on my mantle (first time I've ever HAD a mantle!), looking pretty and festive. And after Christmas, I went to Target and grabbed a couple of boxes of 50% off cards to save for this year.

And then, in June, I got pregnant. And I started thinking to myself that a lot of my extended family members, scattered across the country, don't KNOW that I'm pregnant. Hell, a lot of them probably don't know my married last name, so last year I purposely didn't send cards to them because I knew they'd be all "Erin who?" and I didn't get my butt in gear early enough to get a good photo of me and Kevin to stick in the card (the previous year, the first Christmas after our wedding, would have been a great time to alert them all, because we had some fabulous wedding pictures, but see above the part where I am LAZY).

So this year, what with this baby on the way, I decided that we are going to get a GOOD photo of the two of us, and we are going to use it in a photo card from Shutterfly, dammit! Next week we will get Betsy to take a good photo of us doing something awesomely nerdy at the Harry Potter theme park, and we will make sure the bump is visible, and I will go upload that photo to one of the many awesome cards Shutterfly offers.

(I've already begun planning out next year's card, too -- one of the ones with lots of photos, because we'll have like 8 months' worth of adorable baby pictures to incorporate.)

That is my sole goal for next week's trip -- get a good pictures so I can send out photo cards for the first time EVER. Those 50% off Target cards I got last year can wait for another time. Or not. They're not all that exciting anyway, and I think all 50 of them cost me $5 total.
