I've only been *really* sick a handful of times since Lorelai was born, but she is always SO GOOD when she knows I don't feel well. It reminds me of how my cat used to crawl in my lap and put her head under my chin and purr when I was sad, because there's no way a cat or a baby could really know I'm not feeling well, but they do anyway. I am currently in the middle of Stomach Virus 2012, Take 2. And that little girl entertained herself all morning long while I lay on the sofa and moaned; she was all smiles and kisses, didn't fuss once, and then took a 2-hour nap.
And now her dad is watching her while I watch Friday Night Lights and try not to die. Even though he has a cold and feels lousy too. I am a very, very lucky woman.

4 love notes.:
You ARE a lucky lady! I hope you are feeling better soon!
I hope you feel better soon. If you're throwing up, I really like a tiny pinch of baking soda in some water. Helps soothe my throat when it starts burning from the stomach acid.
We've both gone over how lucky we are about the best husbands ever. And yours is handy around the house. But precious Lorelai. Hard to ask for much more.
Did you know dogs can smell cancer? Isn't that weird?
I'd never heard about the baking soda thing. Or that dogs can smell cancer. (Totally just typed "cure cancer", which, how stupid would we all feel if we found out that all you need to cure cancer is a puppy snuggle?)
There are directions on the Arm and Hammer box. If you do drink some, do not use even half as much as the box says. It tastes god awful. I can't even compare it to anything.
The baking soda makes the water more alkaline so it neutralizes acid. It's an old fashioned remedy. My great-grandmother used baking soda for just about everything.
